About

Canopy, Extraction & Fan Cleaning in IL-MO & Essex

At Select Steam, one of our primary specialities is cleaning canopies, ducts, fans and filters thoroughly in order to fully clean out your commercial kitchen extraction system. This process removes grease and fat deposits which tend to build up over time, especially in busy restaurants, pubs, schools, canteens, hospitals, care homes and similar environments. All jobs are cleaned to BESA TR-19 standards, and we provide photo evidence of the clean plus a certificate of hygiene on completion.

It’s very common for extract ducts, filters and so on to be left for long periods of time without being cleaned. This is often because these places are out of sight, so they can easily be forgotten. Even if you’re aware of the need to keep them clean, doing so can be difficult and inconvenient, especially without the specialist tools and skills we have at our disposal at Select Steam Food Hygiene Ltd.

The need for getting these specific areas cleaned should not be underestimated. There are three major reasons to take this seriously:
At Select Steam, we are experts at ensuring you are compliant with regulations, in order to help you operate as a responsible business and minimise the risk of legal costs and consequences later.

Select Steam is Certified by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

NFPA 96 is published by the National Fire Protection Association. It is the “Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations.” This Standard is used by states and municipalities to govern the ventilation for commercial kitchens. NFPA 96 requires that the technician cleaning the kitchen ventilation system be certified. Hood-Tech Institute’s Hood Cleaning School can certify you as competent per NFPA 96 today.

Hood cleaning is a recession proof service that is mandated by law. Cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust systems (hood cleaning) is required by state and local fire codes. Most of these Authorities require the cleaning be performed in accordance with NFPA 96. Hood Cleaning Certification is required for the performance of this work.

NFPA-96 Certification for Hood Cleaning 7 Any place that cooks food commercially should have their kitchen grease exhaust system cleaned on a regular basis as specified by NFPA 96or other local code. This includes, but is not limited to, restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, churches, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, military bases, theaters, jails, prisons, race tracks, theme parks, bowling allies, convenience stores, and truck stops.

NFPA-96 11.6.1 Upon inspection, if the exhaust system is found to be contaminated with deposits from grease-laden vapors, the contaminated portions of the exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained, qualified, and certified company or person(s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction.

ottom Line : NFPA-96 Certification is required for hood cleanings. How does this affect your business as a hood cleaner? At the HTI Hood Cleaning School we will teach you how to sell your service over your competition, and how having this NFPA-96 Certification for Hood Cleaning will assist with that!
